A new rumor is once again making the rounds that Nintendo is set to reveal new Nintendo Switch models.
The new rumor (via the WSJ) notes “people familiar with the matter” are claiming the company will release two new Nintendo Switch models as early as this summer. The new rumor follows the rumor from October of last year.
The rumor claims one new version will have improved features to focus on core gamers, but won’t be as powerful as the PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X. The rumor noted “parts suppliers and software developers for Nintendo who have early access to a prototype of the machine.” The other option is meant to be cheaper for casual gamers, and a successor to the 3DS.
“You would be wrong to think the enhanced version is similar to what Sony did with PS4 Pro and the other is just a cheap alternative that looks very similar to some past hand-held machines, say, Sony’s PlayStation Vita,” a source said to the WSJ. The WSJ also noted that people who have seen the two new versions said the designs are “different from the original and you’d be surprised.”
As with any rumor – please take this with a grain of salt until we get clarification or confirmation. We’ll keep you guys posted.
