Rumor: The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake Planned for 3DS

A new rumor is making the rounds pointing to a supposed remake for the best (in my opinion) Legend of Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

The rumor claims a remake of Link’s Awakening is coming for the Nintendo 3DS, and that it’s being touted as more of a spiritual successor to the game, a la Link Between Worlds was to Link to the Past.

Reportedly, the studio behind the remake / spiritual successor is Japanese developer Grezzo, who are known for their remakes for both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.

Furthermore, the rumor says that the new version of the game will take inspiration from the latest entry in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is honestly deeply concerning to me (read our review here to find out why).

The new rumor (via VGCultureHQ) comes via known leaker Marcus Sellars, who knew of the existence of Soul Calibur VI and the Dark Souls 1 remaster before they were announced – so there’s a possibility this could actually be happening, plus it simply makes sense to remake the game because it is the best entry in the series.

What do you think of the possibility for a new version and or remake for The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening? If the game is real, should it be developed for the Switch instead? Sound off in the comments below!
