Rumor: Dead Rising 4 Leaked Ahead of E3 2016 Reveal

dead rising 4 06-06-16-1

A new rumor is swirling prior to next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo – this time it’s a potential new sequel for Capcom’s Dead Rising series.

Featured above as well as below, the first images for the game were posted onto 4chan (via ThisGenGaming), prior to being further corroborated by Kotaku:

dead rising 4 06-06-16-2 dead rising 4 06-06-16-3

“Although we’ve grown not to put much faith in blurry off-screen photos, I recently saw another shot of that same poster from a different source, which helps corroborate the leak,” Kotaku’s own Jason Schreier said.

Other rumors and various “industry insiders” that refuse to vet their identity to Niche Gamer claim the game is exclusive to Xbox One and PC, and it will probably be announced during Microsoft’s E3 presser.

They also poise it as a “remake of some sort,” will have four player cooperative, will allow players to venture outside of the mall, and that it will be set in Willamette, Colorado – during Christmas.

We’ll keep you guys posted.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be true. But seriously? Xbone exclusive again? Now I’m really hoping that slim model rumor turns out to be true.

I suppose Capcom still needs the money and continues doing those exclusivity deals.

The first two games were silly, fun, the first one especially had that special touch only the japanese truly have for stupid cutscenes and I loved how the time limits made you strategize what you should be doing at what time and made sense plotwise.

3 was just… disappointing. Too dark, couldn’t find anything on that damn map, time limits are just a joke.

Won’t jump the gun and say it looks like shit, but I really wish they would go back to smaller, more focused and fun-packed places, like a cruise ship, or another mall is fine too.

Bring back frank and make the series fun again. DS3 and LP3 were both gritty sequels to an otherwise really fun and silly trilogy. and they were both by far the worst of the games. Dead Rising just isn’t Dead Rising without the comedic relief.

Inafune really did leave Capcom in an absolutely embarrassing state, where they have to beg Sony and Microsoft for pittances in order to develop even their most basic games.

Wow… it is litterly “Milking the Game”… no new games or innovative. Accept it, guys. The video game market is dead or better say became Hollywood; horrible remakes and sequels are all they can do.

Burn, baby, burn. Let them all go down in a large, bright fire.

Also, the psychopaths in 3 really fucking limited themselves by being based on sins, the only ones i actually remember is gluttony and lust and that was because they were just disgusting and not funny at all, i think the most humor i derived from the game was that the co-op partner’s name was dick and that rhymed with nick

Chuck had his monotone silly as fuck one-liners for killing all the psychopaths, that really made them more memorable and interesting, and in One, there was just plain silly shit you could do, like wearing children’s clothing and a servbot helmet and hitting people in the head with showerheads, plus the psychopaths were more memorable in who they were, like the Storeman and the Veteran, and spooky clown man, i don’t remember their names, but i do remember their designs and all their stuff

    A couple of quick pointers.

    1) Despite their similarities, PC and consoles operate in separate markets. The consumers who buy consoles are often different than the consumers who buy PCs.

1.5) Also, what is wrong with Microsoft double dipping in two different markets?

    2) Why did you choose to use Uncharted as an example? Of a console that has more than just, to best sum it up, “Western Hollywood Garbage”, I find it a bit funny that the highest rated exclusives are “Western Hollywood Garbage” (With the only exception being Bloodborne).

    3) Have you ever actually taken the time to look at what is truly exclusive to the PS4 (And, I mean games only available on the PS4)?

Yeah, you could, OTR is one of the best spin offs/ what ifs I’ve ever played, simply because it added things (new combos, new moves, new story, etc) along with keeping some things the same, and having that character go through that story instead of Chuck, maybe we’ll eventually get an OG dead rising OTR with chuck in the mall, that’d be pretty fun actually, but yeah, it was pretty solid

Also, I think Frank’s one-liners were far better than chucks, ‘I don’t do flat chicks’ being one that legitimately made me burst asunder my side plates

1,5) because its dividing the audience and the devs too since they have to make a multiplat port for xbox too, so many consider that xbox as a detrimental for gaming as a whole

  31. Sapph

How is it dividing the audience? PC gamers and console gamers are two different markets.

Also, Microsoft’s UWP system allows for the developers to make only one version of the game to fit all systems.

That’s funny. PS4 is also an underpowered PC with less games than on PC. The exclusives it does have are being ported to PC faster than any generation before, or are co-developed with PC in mind. (Like SFV) Also “90%” of PS4’s games are also FPS / Action / Sports. Multiplats make up the LARGE majority of each systems total number of games.

It’s also amusing that you compare Xbox’s exclusives to Hollywood Scripts, when PS4 easily hosts the most egregious offender this gen “The Order: 1886.” And DudeRaider 4 mine as well be one scripted event leading to the next with minor intermissions for a rope mechanic here or there.

This whole gen has been a joke as far as consoles are concerned. They came out underpowered day 1, their 1st party titles are in a constant rotation of delays or broken features (DriveClub, MCC). They struggle to maintain even basic HD resolutions and half-refresh rates. Even fan favorite Bloodborne is a technical mess with it’s broken frame-pacing and unusual load times.

Sonyfags are delusional if they think they’re in any better shape than Xbots this gen. The only winner has been PC, sucking up enhanced/definitive versions of all your games slowly but surely.

  33. RioSine
    RioSine
    June 7, 2016 at 12:09 am

Of course its dividing it, but not the pc/console audience, the console audience in between. xbox just exist to burn MS money and being detrimental to Playstation sales.

Now I might have sounded as not a sony fan. but Im actually not. Im just describing what MS been doing ever since they spawned that xbox

    June 7, 2016 at 12:49 am

Notice I said it earlier “detrimental for gaming as a whole” not to just PlayStation

Devs have to split their team to make sure their multiplat games runs optimally in both xbox and Playstation. and both console have different specs and the xbox one suck more than the playstation 4. so balancing them is not trivial and it often turn in games not even being able to run in an stable framerate.

So the existance of multiple console just make the life of devs harder

  41. Sapph
    Sapph
    June 7, 2016 at 1:35 am

Because either Sony pays for them to be exclusive, or the developers think that they’re game will perform well enough on Sony’s systems that they don’t need it on multiple platforms. It’s not infinite wisdom, it’s common sense.

Take, for instance, Dead Rising. Given how the sales for the series has performed previously, Capcom probably figured to leave the game as a Microsoft exclusive since the previous ports to other systems didn’t really make much of a difference in sales.

  42. RioSine
    RioSine
    June 7, 2016 at 1:49 am

Yes you are almost there, then why do think, the devs think their game will perform well enough in just 1 platform, other than for xbox being a detriment in their sales? that is pretty much the whole point of the argument

  43. Sapph
    Sapph
    June 7, 2016 at 2:03 am

Because the only region that the Xbox isn’t selling well in is Japan (Which is where majority of these exclusive are from). Everywhere else, the console is selling quite decently.

So, why should developers limit themselves to only one system meanwhile missing a sizable amount of users on another?

  44. Smug

The UWP format is more about control over their games on the PC platform. You can buy the PC version 1 place and that’s Win10 store. Everyone knows that people find their PC games dirt cheap on the web and can pay even less for it that way. MS want a 100% cut and this is the way to do it + getting more people on Win10 OS as well.

In short. MS’s UWP only benefits only them. No one else.

Remember Rise of the Tomb raider? Was on Xbox One only for a time and in that time it didn’t sell well. A few games can pull it off on 1 platform only. Like Uncharted 4. But it would never beat the sales of games lige GTAV.

“Sold 11.21 million units in its first 24 hours, and generated revenue of $815.7 million, going on to reach $1 billion in sales after just three days on September 20 2013.”
