[UPDATE]
It seems like this informant could be completely spinning lies, if a message from Community Lead & Website Coordinator Marcin Momot is anything to go by.
“Just bumped into Marcin Iwiński – it was new to him. I guess the “informer” has better insight than the CDPROJEKTRED founder,” said Momot on Twitter.
I believe we can shelve this rumor for now – especially considering how well The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt performed in sales.
[ORIGINAL STORY]
We’ve caught wind of a very troubling rumor concerning The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt RED.
According to the source (via DSO Gaming), CD Projekt RED management have been in talks with Electronic Arts, and the employee speculates that his employer could be purchased by the publisher:
“I’m employee of CDProjekt Red and I have some bad news to share with you. Our management is probably talking with Electronic Arts about potential take over. Electronic Arts representatives are currently visiting our studio and meeting with top management. We are not going to release any game soon, so for sure it’s not about any publishing deal, so the only possible reason for EA guys being here is that they want to buy us.”
The main thing to take away from this is the employee doesn’t believe this is a publishing deal.
As with any rumor, take this with a hefty grain of salt. However, we’ll keep you guys posted.
