A new rumor is pointing to Nintendo making another TV series based on their long-running Legend of Zelda franchise.
The rumor comes via TheWrap, which notes the Netflix-produced Castlevania executive producer Adi Shankar is working on the new TV series based on the Zelda franchise.
Shankar teased a reveal for the next show he’s working on, saying (via Instagram) that “the success of Castlevania created this opportunity,” and that he can confirm that he’s “working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series. On November 16 at 1:00 p.m., I’m going to announce what it is. I love you all. Thank you for following me on this journey. Entertaining you guys continues to be a privilege.”
The report via TheWrap notes this is actually a new TV series based on The Legend of Zelda.
When reached out for comment, a Nintendo representative had “nothing to announce on this topic.”
The second season for his hit Castlevania Netflix series just launched a few days ago. A separate rumor suggests that Netflix is also looking to adapt the beloved Diablo action RPG series into a TV series as well – you can read more about that here.
What entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise would you like to see adapted into a TV series? Or possibly something new altogether? My money is on the best Zelda game, Link’s Awakening, because it’s a spinoff, wholly original, and won’t piss off diehard fans.
