The long-running Humble Bundles have always been a good source for cheap games and a way to feel good while buying them thanks to their ties to charity, but this week’s sale is of special importance due to the record it just set. According to Humble’s twitter post, the current weekly deal involving RPGMaker and several of its fanmade titles has broken a record. Not hard to believe when you see that the counter is above 160,000 and climbing. If you want to help it climb even higher still, head over to their page and take advantage of the deal while you can.
Granted, Steam offering RPGMaker for free may have had a hand in this surge, but good indie news is still good indie news!
If you’re hesitant to pick up what amounts to a bunch of fanmade 16bit RPGs, you can take my word that one of the games offered in that package, the one seen in the above video, is probably one of the best indie RPGs I’ve ever played. Having bought Deadly Sin a couple years ago from the developer, I was pleasantly surprised at how “SNES-like” it felt. Like a cross between Final Fantasy 6 and Phantasy Star 4. A worthy game for any RPG aficionado.
