Roy and Ryu are Officially Confirmed for Super Smash Bros., New Amiibo, and More

Following the leaked footage we saw yesterday, Nintendo has confirmed both their own Roy and Street Fighter’s Ryu. You can view the entire reveal event video, just above.

You can find information for both confirmed fighters, below:

The former combatant made his appearance in the series back in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and he now features a new design.

Roy is coming alongside Lucas from Mother 3, and each fighter will cost $3.99, or $4.99 for both.

Ryu was also confirmed as a playable character. He will be utilizing his Street Fighter II form, meaning even his low attacks will have light, medium, and heavy versions. Ryu’s attacks can be activated via the same button sequences you saw in the Street Fighter series.

He even has two final smashes, one being the shinku-hadouken, the other being shin-shoryuken. Ryu’s stage, Suzaku Castle, is also coming to Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS. Ryu (and his stage) will cost $5.99, or $6.99 on both platforms.

New Mii Fighter costumes were also revealed, including Mega Man.EXE, Virtua Fighter, Animal Crossing, and more. Each Mii Fighter costume will cost $0.75 each, or $1.15 for one costume on both platforms.

Heihachi is even getting a Mii Fighter costume, meaning you can have Ryu and Heihachi duke it out.

The classic stage, Kirby’s Dreamland, is returning in the newest Super Smash Bros., on both Wii U and 3DS. The stage will be $1.99 each or $2.99 for both platforms. The Miiverse stage (Wii U only) is also coming, although it will be entirely free.

New Amiibo are coming to Super Smash Bros., all of which are set to launch in September. You can view them all above. What’s more interesting is the fact that Nintendo has promised that every fighter will eventually get an Amiibo.

Nintendo also confirmed that you can now upload replay videos to YouTube, enabling you to record videos to YouTube. These will end up as regular video files, you can even export them to your computer and edit them there. A tournament mode is coming to both versions of Super Smash Bros., in August.

All of the new content will be made available today, at 8AM PDT.
