[UPDATE: check out some new screenshots and artwork from the game at the end of the article, too.]
Since Kadokawa Games released new footage from Rodea the Sky Soldier in December, things have been quiet. Now they have a new video out, the first in a series that is intended to introduce players to their flight action game. You can watch it above.
The clip explains Rodea’s basic movements and actions:
- Players decide in which direction Rodea flies by targeting that direction and pressing the A button.
- Rodea’s flight is dependent on a flight gauge, which can be replenished by collecting Graviton during flight, by executing special techniques like wall kicks, or by landing.
- Players can boost Rodea’s speed with the B button, during flight and during battle; naturally, this uses up the gauge quickly.
- The Y button has multiple uses: holding it and pressing up or down on the left stick makes Rodea fly up or down; holding the left stick down and pressing Y will have Rodea perform a pounding attack; and holding the left or right stick and pressing Y will perform an evasive maneuver.
Rodea the Sky Soldier will release on the Wii U and 3DS in Japan on April 2. It will cost 7,200 yen on the Wii U and 5,800 yen on the 3DS. Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea, the original version of the game which remains unreleased (no one knows why), will be included with first-print copies of the Wii U version.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou and Inside Games.
