So a little while ago we wrote about a Rock Simulator game that strangely popped up on Steam Greenlight. We had no idea if the developer was serious (as the post seemed somewhat of a parody in itself), but it looks like we’ve been proven wrong.
In a response to Polygon, Rock Simulator’s developer Strange Panther Games responded with a quote that confirms the game is a serious entry on Greenlight, and that it is not meant to be simply a joke:
“I saw that other simulation games, such as Goat Simulator, can be successful, so I thought that if a goat can be a good game, then a rock can be too! I didn’t expect anything near the reaction its getting. It originally started as a joke, and now that we’ve seen the reaction, its a completely real game.”
However, now we know that the game at least started out as a joke, only to have the wildly unpredictable gaming community take to it like a storm.
Do you guys think the simulator craze has gotten a little out of hand?
