Longtime Roblox fans that questioned the popular game’s absensce on PlayStation have finally gotten an answer: Sony blocked the game.

The report comes from the ongoing court battle with the FTC over Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, where internal documents confirmed Sony blocked the popular online game.

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan originally told investors of the decision to block Roblox from their platform back in 2022, due to a concern over children being exploited in the game.

“Historically, because of the large number of children that play on the PlayStation, we have been very careful with regards to opening them up to anything that could potentially exploit them,” Ryan said to investors (via Axios).

Due to the nature of Roblox and its user-generated nature, all kinds of games and game content are published to the platform, daily. There’s always a risk of potentially offensive or unacceptable content being found, though it seems Sony regrets blocking the game.

“We have been conservative for too long, and now we are currently engaging with people at Roblox. We hope that the situation will change,” Ryan said.

Roblox has been available for Windows PC, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
