Publisher Arc System Works and developer APlus Games have announced River City: Romance of the Three Kingdoms for Switch release date is set for December 2021.
The River City: Romance of the Three Kingdoms for Switch release date is set for December 16th in Japan. As covered in our previous report, the Windows PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 4 versions of the game are coming sometime after during or after April 2022.
Details were shared for the game’s Record of the Three Kingdoms Heroes: Red Cliffs Chapter bonus mode. The new four-player cooperative mode is a throwback action experience where you fight and defeat the enemies that appear on screen, leading to a boss that once defeated has you clearing the stage.
As mentioned, up to your players can enjoy this mode simultaneously, complete with ten stages, twelve playable characters, and multiplayer supported with single Joy-Con play. There’s also leaderboards, hidden stages, playable characters exclusive to the mode, and a CRT style screen filter.

River City: Romance of the Three Kingdoms is originally called Kunio-kun no Sangokushi Da Yo: Zenin Shuugou! in Japanese, an homage to the popular classic Japanese comedy show Hachiji Da Yo! Zenin Shuugou!, which starred the legendary Ken Shimura, among others.
