Risk of Rain developer Hopoo games announced that many of the company’s leadership and team members have been hired by Valve.

For Risk of Rain fans this is bittersweet news, since as of now the developer is officially defunct. On the other hand, the developers who made the games they love are working with more support as a part of Valve.

We love making games – and will continue to do so, for years to come. We're excited to be working side-by-side with the talented people at Valve. But for now – sleep tight, Hopoo Games.

As a result of the move, development on the upcoming game Snail has been put on indefinite hiatus.

There are rumors that Valve has been revitalizing their development teams in order to perform maintenance on existing games, but also to create new Valve titles. Hopefully there will be some exciting news in the coming months.

Risk of Rain 2 has been available on Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
