Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the release window for Resogun’s upcoming “Defenders” expansion.

The addition to the Playstation 4 shmup will be coming sometime early next year, and it will cost $4.99 – it’s also included in the season pass, if you go that route.

Resogun’s Defenders expansion comes with two new game modes – Protector and Commando. You’ll also get new ships, and some of the “most detailed artwork to date” from developer Housemarque.

A huge patch for the game is going to be coming alongside the expansion, for all players. The patch, dubbed “Challengers,” adds a new challenge mode and feats to accomplish across the entire game. Coming from this, you’ll be enabled to acquire challenge points to further your pilot rank.

Finally, if you’re at the Playstation Experience this weekend, the new patch as well as the expansion are both playable on the showfloor.
