Resident Evil live-action movie by “Weapons” director Zach Cregger gets first trailer

Resident Evil movie

Sony has finally released the first trailer for their Resident Evil live-action film with Weapons director Zach Cregger.

The first trailer shows off the latest live-action film adaptation of Capcom’s beloved survival horror franchise – with Cregger directing and co-writing alongside Shay Hatten.

While most of the previous Resident Evil films have directly included series characters like Leon S. Kennedy or Jill Valentine in animated adaptations, the previous live-action films that featured Milla Jovovich merely shared locations and themes from the games.

A standalone live-action reboot titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was released in 2021 and featured an all-new cast of characters trying to survive the Raccoon City zombie outbreak.

This all-new live-action Resident Evil film by Creggers is a completely new take on the franchise with a new and original story, following new protagonist Bryan (Austin Abrams) who finds himself struggling to survive amidst the chaos in a zombie outbreak in Raccoon City.

Here’s the first trailer:

The new Resident Evil live-action film is being produced and co-financed by Constantin Film with Robert Kulzer (also from Constantin Film), Roy Lee and Miri Yoon (Vertigo Entertainment), and PlayStation Productions co-producing.

Resident Evil is set to premiere exclusively in theaters this fall, on September 18th.
