The previously announced Reiwa no Di Gi Charat mini-series will premiere on October 7 as part of the Fall 2022 anime series.

Reiwa no Di Gi Charat (Di Gi Charat of Reiwa) is a new series for a new era, literally! For those who aren’t weeb enough to keep track of such things, the Japanese calendar changes eras when the emperor changes with the new Reiwa era beginning with the ascendance of Emperor Naruhito.

Di Gi Charat began as a manga in 1998 and is still ongoing to this day. The series features the daily antics of the catgirl Dejiko who’s the mascot for the Gamers chain of stores in Japan.

Despite being designed as an ad campaign for a hobby store in Akihabara, Di Gi Charat has maintained a cult following in both Japan and the United States. The characters from the series are lampooned in other works.
