The upcoming anime series Reincarnated as a Sword will begin this October.

Reincarnated as a Sword follows an unnamed salaryman who’s reincarnated as a sword in a fantasy world. Rather than be the focus of the series, much of the characterization is given to the young girl Fran, a native of the fantasy world.

Fran is a member of the Black Cat Tribe, a tribe of beastfolk who are often the targets of enslavement and subjugation. After finding our nameless sword protagonist who she refers to as Master (Shishou in the original Japanese which is used for positions like martial arts instructors as opposed to the more servile goshujin-sama).

Together, Fran and Shishou (I’m calling him Shishou) travel the world as a single adventuring unit with Fran largely keeping Shishou’s existence a secret.
