Redfall was reportedly coming to PS5 before Microsoft acquisition

Developer Arkane Austin were reportedly making Redfall for PS5, too, prior to Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda.

The new report comes from an interview with game director Harvey Smith, who revealed that development on the game changed up after they got acquired by the Xbox company.

“We got bought by Microsoft, and that was a huge sea change. They said no PlayStation 5. Now we’re gonna do Game Pass, Xbox, and PC,” Smith said to IGN France.

Microsoft quickly issued a statement noting they “haven’t pulled any games from PlayStation” and that “all of the games that were available on PlayStation when we acquired ZeniMax in March 2021 are still available on PlayStation.”

They added, “We have continued to do content updates on PlayStation and PC.” This is technically true, as Bethesda games released prior to the acquisition haven’t been pulled but future titles – like Starfieldare exclusive to Xbox consoles.

Redfall is launching on May 2nd for Windows PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S.
