The Rook is an early specialized vampire in Redfall, unlike other enemies he isn’t found at a specific location but instead he’s summoned.
So if you’re looking for tips on how to take out this nuisance, or how to farm him then read on in our guide to summoning and defeating The Rook in Redfall.
Summoning The Rook
The Rook is called when players slaughter a large amount of Vampires in short order. In a way, it’s almost like a built-in mechanic to prevent shameless farming; especially from early mobs.
Ironically this makes The Rook one of the easier mini-bosses to grind. To call him, all you have to do is get to killing.
After a short while, The Rook will spawn with a burst of lightning.
Defeating The Rook
Redfall suffers from some poor enemy AI and The Rook is no exception. It also doesn’t help that his moves are painfully basic and easy to avoid.
Just kite him. The Rook can be walked around for free, he’s slower than players and even though he can teleport his attack animation is so long that you can just walk out of it.
If you fight him outside, he can conjure red lightning that’s announced with sparkling zones on the ground which you can avoid. So keep moving and it’s a free kill.
The Rook is a bullet sponge, the hardest thing about him is that he takes so long to kill. In fact, while you’re running him around you’re more likely to die from pulling additional enemies than you are to The Rook himself.
Ultimately if you just stay moving and watch out for additional enemies, even a beginner should be able to take on this beefy Vampire with hardly a scratch.
Redfall is available for the Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows (through Steam). You can check out our review here!
