Red Goddess is a metroidvania, side-scrolling, action-adventure game being created Spain based Yanim Studio. The game is currently in its pre-alpha stage, but as you can tell by the video, the game looks amazing.
In Red Goddess, you play as a goddess named Divine. She is slowly losing her powers and something inside of her is literally tearing her apart. Divine has to go into her own subconscious and discover what it is that is destroying her.
The enviornment in her mind will be like a planet made up of mountains, caves, forests, and other unknown perils.
Divine’s subconscious tries to block her from going deeper and deeper into her mind. If you are injured too many times, detected by enemy spiders, or do not solve a puzzle correctly, the mind will activate a quarantine area. You will be attacked by more enemies, the enemies will become more aggressive, or new traps will be activated.
The games most interesting feature in Red Goddess is the split characters you have to control. You can only select one half of the character and that is either Rage or Fear. Each character has specific characteristics and mechanics such as close fire attacks or controlling the minds of your enemies.
While playing as one half, the other half appears as a ball. You must stay close to the ball by carrying it around. You will be able to throw the ball at enemies and also use it to help solve puzzles.
Yanim Studio is releasing Red Goddess for PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, PS Vita, and Wii U. The game has already received the Steam Greenlight and is currently on Kickstarter until Friday June 6th.
