red-dead-redemption-2-10-18-16-1

Rockstar Games has announced Red Dead Redemption 2.

The upcoming sequel will launch for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime next fall. Rockstar describes the game as “an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland” with a “vast and atmospheric world” that “will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
The debut trailer for the game is coming this Thursday, October 20th at 11:00 AM Eastern.

“With Red Dead Redemption 2, the team is working hard to push forward our vision for interactive entertainment in a truly living world,” said Sam Houser, the founder of Rockstar Games. “We hope to deliver players an epic experience that builds upon everything we’ve learned making games.”

Finally, you can visit the game’s teaser website here.

    No PC announcement

    It begins, again.

Also if the first is Revolver and the second is Redemption they should have kept the theme running with Red Dead Recknoning or something.

Rockstar didn’t release a single game simultaneously for PC last generation, and it looks like they want to continue that trend. That said, I have no doubt they’ll port it eventually with how big the platform is. Probably a combination of perceived piracy concerns and trying to get people to buy it twice (which a lot do).

The reason the original never got ported came down to the hugely troubled development and the fact that PC was relatively small back in 2010.

Not as much as the Nier Automata PC reveal.

That title is pretty underwhelming. It’s like they’re ignoring Red Dead Revolver.
Still, could be decent. Let’s hope it’s not as buggy as the first game.

I don’t like game announcements so early before release, since there is always the danger of delays, but I guess Rockstar want to properly hype it up.

It looks like it may be a prequel to the first Red Dead Redemption, where Marston is still running with his gang.
Or it may be something completely different, but if they’re calling it Redemption 2 it would presumably be related story wise with the first redemption, maybe it follows Johns son.

PC port will come at some point. They did it for GTAV, they’all do it for Red Dead redemption 2.

Kinda disappointed that the name is just Redemption 2, but that’s the minorest of minor nitpicks. If the game is even half as good as the first it’ll probably be next year’s GOTY or at least a serious contender.

Last I heard, Rockstar ruined its staff on Read Dead by overworking and underpaying them, then firing many of them once the game was released

Which if I recall they said underperformed and were quick to port it to PSP and later mobile.
Rockstar has no reason to support NX, they have no reason to listen to the nonsensical claims that this time a Nintendo console is going to be the 3rd party promised land.

I’d hope for re-releases of the first two games, but considering the backwards compatibility on XBO and Revolver getting released as a PS2 classic on PS4, I think there’s no chance for an actual port.

If not triple dip; late 2017/early 2018 should be around the time we’ll get the next set of consoles, assuming Scorpio isn’t already meant to be the new “generational leap”.

It’s not iirc, it’s just like the PS4 Pro, only a bit beefier. Though since this will probably get a delay to 2018/early 2019 we may just see another GTA V since 2020 is likely when we’ll see the PS4 and such.

That’s what Microsoft has been saying (most of the time), but their messaging has been mixed so far on whether all of its games will indeed be compatible with the standard X1 models or not.

My guess is full compatability at the start, and then they might slowly phase the original box out depending on Scorpio adoption. Assuming they can launch it at a decent competitive price (300-350), I wouldn’t blame them for trying to repeat what they did with the 360.
