Playism have announced Team Ladybug’s Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth-, and that the game will be entering Steam Early Access.
For those unfamiliar, Record of the Lodoss War were a series of late 1980s Japanese fantasy novels by Ryo Mizuno, detailing the setting and exploits of the players in a setting he created for a tabletop roleplaying game. Since then, the series lived on with adaptions in manga, anime, radio dramas, and video games.
Now, Team Ladybug (in collaboration with Why so serious?) have created a Castlevania-inspired game focusing on High Elf Deedlit.
She awakens within the titular labyrinth, and (in the Steam announcement’s words) “encounters “”Ghim”” and more of her old friends. Where is this place? Receiving help from spirits including “”Sylph”” and “”Salamander””, Deedlit wanders this mysterious new world in search of answers…”
Suspicious use of quotation marks aside, the game allows Deedlit to fight with sword, bow, or utilize spirits. The latter grants her resistance to specific damage types, along with special abilities.

- Game Features
Sword and Arrow AttacksUse your sword for powerful melee attacks against enemies within range, or employ projectile attacks using your bow and arrows against those farther away.
Swappable Equipment
Freely equip and utilize swords and arrows obtained along the way.
The powerful weapons and tools you acquire can be used to your advantage throughout your journey.
You can also sell off weapons you no longer need.
Swappable Elemental Spirits
Alternate among a selection of useful elemental spirits to change Deedlit’s various attributes.
While using Sylph, the wind spirit, wind-based attacks do less damage.
When the flame spirit Salamander is in use, fire-based attacks do less damage.
Raise Elemental Spirit Levels
You can raise the levels of your elemental spirits by absorbing the “Soul Screams” generated when attacking and defeating enemies.
Each spirit’s level is displayed as Deed’s own power level.
When a spirit’s level has maxed out at 3, HP will be automatically recovered.
