Tactical shooter Ready or Not has returned to Steam after a brief and sudden hiatus that led to speculation. Now we know the game was pulled due to a trademark dispute.
The developer previously tweeted that they pulled the game due to a “suggested trademark infringement” on the games new Night Club map, which released as part of its latest content update.
Apparently, the Night Club map had to be altered and any references to the original venue or its likeness were removed. Void Interactive did not detail what had to be changed and/or removed, however, but speculation points to the night club(s) not wanting to be depicted in a tactical shooter where police raids happen.
Now the game has returned to Steam and remains overwhelmingly positive with player feedback and reviews.
Ready or Not previously got into trouble shortly after it launched in early access last December, when the studio noted they planned on including a school shooter mission.
This led to publisher Team17 parting ways with the game while its developer Void Interactive pledged to still make the level – while saying it won’t “glorify cowardly acts of violence.”
Ready or Not has been available for Windows PC via Steam Early Access.
