Rayman 2 fan remake gets a demo as well

Rayman 2

As if one towering classic wasn’t enough, we are hit with a second fan-made Rayman remake entitled Rayman 2: Redreamed.

It is currently in development by New Dawn Games, a collective of volunteer Rayman 2 fans, and this early demo was released on the same day as Rayman 3: Havoc Reignited (September 1st).

The original game was released all the way back in 1999 on Nintendo 64 and PC, with numerous ports to follow for years (Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Apple iOS).

Here’s the rundown from the developers as well as the demo release trailer:

Rayman 2: Redreamed is a 3D platformer where you play as Rayman – the limbless hero destined to save the world from the villainous Robo-Pirates.

After years of hard work, we are excited to finally share the first part of our fan remake of the beloved 3D platformer Rayman 2: The Great Escape, originally created by Ubisoft in 1999. This demo is a vertical slice of the full game and includes the entirety of The Fairy Glade level, as well as a small obstacle course that showcases parts of Rayman’s move set.

Some small notes regarding the demo:

  • Rayman 2: Redreamed is a fan-made project created by a group of unpaid volunteers. This project has only been possible thanks to the support of our community and our team members’ love for Rayman as a whole. Please note that this demo is not representative of the final product – we will continue working to ensure that we deliver the best experience possible.
  • We’ve worked hard to make the demo fully playable from start to finish, but we’re aware it may not be completely bug-free. Rest assured, our quality assurance team is actively hunting down issues, so we kindly ask that you refrain from reporting non-critical bugs at this time.
  • Since we haven’t yet conducted extensive performance testing on this demo release, we unfortunately cannot provide minimum system requirements at this stage. We appreciate your understanding.
