Indie developer Eclair Games has announced RatScum, a new narrative adventure featuring rats navigating a crumbling world.
RatScum is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), though a release date wasn’t announced.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus its reveal trailer:
Fallen into the sewer, a lone rat embarks on the long journey of returning home in an estranged, crumbling apartment. Navigate forgotten corners and unfamiliar spaces, befriend unlikely allies, and slip through dangers and shadows in the cracks of a broken world.
Beneath a derelict apartment on the edge of the city, a rat wakes up in isolation and unfamiliarity. Stumbling upon floors and pipes to survive while searching for a way back home, it finds everyone here in desperate need of escaping from something.
RatScum is a narrative adventure about being lost, identity, and belonging. You play as a rat trying to return home: climb through vents and strange spaces, solve puzzles and avoid dangers, spy on tenants, befriend stranger rats, and uncover the stories whispered behind the walls.
Set out into this crumbling yet whimsical world, where even in the filth and the forgotten, there is beauty. And something like peace.
Features
- Rodent Power – As a rat, you have to use your tiny rat brain to think outside the box. Slink through the shadows, outsmart the traps, and use your power to navigate through this murky place.
- Make Allies – Every rat knows that surviving without the help of your own kind is never easy, especially when everyone sees you as an outsider. To find your way home, it might be wiser to be accepted by them.
