Publisher Kagura Games has announced they’re bringing the Rance series to popular PC platform Steam.

Kagura Games is bringing the entire catalogue of Rance games to Steam via a new partnership with Alicesoft and MangaGamer, the latter of which originally translated the games for western audiences.

It remains unclear how much content will be cut from the games to get them approved for a Steam release, considering Rance has been associated with its adult content. MangaGamer originally translated and released the games uncensored via their official website.

The new releases include all the Rance games:

• Rance X
• Rance Quest Magnum
• Rance IV
• Sengoku Rance

Rance 01 + 02

Story

• Rance 01 – Quest for Hikari: Rance has been traveling around with his faithful mage companion, Sill Plain, but now he has a new purpose in mind. His target this time—or rather, his destination—is the wealthy Kingdom of Leazas. Hikari, the daughter of a noble family who attended Paris Academy there, has gone missing, and Rance has taken up the quest to find her.
• Rance 02 – The Rebellious Maidens: The peerless warrior Rance is a great fighter, a quick thinker, and a man of powerful luck. These qualities alone would mark him as a hero for the history books, but unfortunately, he has no interest in using his talents for world peace or justice, and acts only on his own desires. Now the town of Custom is in danger, and who else will take a stand to help them but our hero, Rance (and his helper Sill). Now that Rance is on the job, Custom is saved! …Or is it?

Gameplay

• Rance 01 – Quest for Hikari: Investigate Hikari’s whereabouts in adventure mode, then delve into dungeons as you progress through the story. Uncover clues, side plots, and perhaps even powerful items by talking to everyone you meet. Dungeons are represented by cards, and you must choose your cards carefully to find treasure and avoid traps, because a card could be hiding anything when it’s face down. Combat involves a wide variety of weapons, shields, and items all represented as “chips.” Bet chips to perform attacks, and manage your combos and cooldowns wisely to defeat powerful foes.
• Rance 02 – The Rebellious Maidens: The town of Custom is imperiled by four witches, and it’s Rance’s job to stop them. Explore Custom in adventure mode, interacting with its residents, stocking up on items, and preparing for battle. Once you’re suitably prepared, delve into the dungeon surrounding Custom, avoiding traps, solving puzzles, and fending off monsters as you search for the witches. Form new alliances and trample anyone who stands in your way as you explore and uncover the mystery surrounding the witches’ origins.

Rance 03

Story

• On a certain day in the year of LP 2, the great eastern country of Leazas fell after being invaded by an elite force from the militaristic northern country of Helman led by Imperial Prince Patton. With Patton’s forces are supreme beings of great power, who are unable to be wounded by any of Leazas’s strongest warriors—fiends. The castle was occupied in a matter of moments, and Leazas’s ruling monarch, Princess Lia, was taken captive. Is this the end of Leazas?
• As the mighty nation becomes a thing of the past in but a single night, a lone ninja flees the castle, taking with her one of the country’s national treasures and a simple message from the princess. Entrusted with the nation’s last shred of hope, she heads to the Free City of Ice in the west.

Gameplay

• Travel from the Free Cities to the Kingdom of Leazas, liberating every settlement along the way from the invading Helmanian army. Progress across the world map, clearing dungeons, fighting deadly bosses, and meeting a sizable cast of characters.
• Visit cities and speak with their residents to advance the story, then purchase items to help on your adventure. Recruit and level up new party members as you go, each with their own unique skills. Choose the right party for the job based on enemy weaknesses and resistances. Dungeons are represented by cards, and you must choose your cards carefully to find treasure and avoid traps, because a card could be hiding anything when it’s face down.

Rance IX

• Story: The oldest nation to still exist on the Continent is the militant Helmanian Empire. A country with a long history, and once the most powerful nation in the world, Helman has experienced years of decay under a corrupt regime. A civil war, an invasion by a neighboring power, or perhaps both could happen at any moment. Amidst fears of such turmoil by no small portion of the population, a man who was once exiled from Helman rises to action. Years prior, Prince Patton Misnarge fought to prove his worth by invading another country, but failed and disappeared from the public eye. Swearing to take his country back, Patton has trained and returned a strong and admirable man. He seeks to make use of the peerless champion he met on his journeys to help revolutionize Helman. Yes, the key to his plan is to get the assistance of the strongest and most brutal warrior, Rance.
• Gameplay: Take control of the Revolutionary Army and lead the Helmanian Revolution to victory in this tactical RPG. Carefully position your units to defeat an overwhelming number of enemies. Collect items, upgrade units, and use every maneuver at your disposal to overcome the Helmanian Empire. Rance has a way of attracting powerful warriors wherever he goes, and leading a small, elite force, he journeys across the vast empire to bring it to heel.
