This week’s Famitsu magazine (via Hachima Kikou) has revealed a brand new smartphone RPG by Square Enix and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD developers HexaDrive.

Dubbed Rampage Land Rankers (debut artwork shown above), the game is a free to play RPG on both iOS and Android. Fans will get their hands on the game next month in Japan, and they’ll be empowered to explore dungeons as part of the “Rankers Union” adventurers organization.

Key staff working on the project include Tetsuya Nomura and Mitsunori Takahashi, the latter of which directed the Dissidia Final Fantasy PSP games. It’s worth mentioning that Nomura-san is handling character designs.

The dungeons in game are set up like a board game, where players will journey across them with differently numbered cards. Depending on what number your card has, you’ll be able to move X amount of steps. Dungeons are randomly generated, and they’re filled with treasure chests and monsters. Drops are naturally, random, but there are team battles, as well as a card fusion system.

A release date was not confirmed, but we’ll keep you guys posted.
