Quiet, New Maps Added to Metal Gear Online

metal gear online 01-30-16-1

We’ve learned (via Famitsu) that Konami is adding Quiet, as well as three new maps, to Metal Gear Online.

While Quiet is being added as a “unique character,” the three new maps include “Azure Mountain,” “Coral Complex,” and “Ruse Palace.”

If you’re not familiar with the online multiplayer suite, unique characters show up as a mission setting in the beginning of a match – with one player selected at random to play as said character.

So are all the Metal Gear Online maps just ripped from the campaign and mildly tweaked for online play? Also I still feel the Phantom Pain of an unfinished game.

That last part made no sense, but I agree with you since I know what you’re saying anyway.

Probably. Kojima promised the camp from Ground Zeroes returning in an interesting way (implying plot implications as well as old save data leading to new content) and it was just a multiplayer map. >_>

I haven’t seen Angry Joe’s video but every other Youtuber (GamingBrit, HyperBitHero, Super Bunnyhop) in my sub box has discussed the game’s hollowness.

Yeah, that’s my bad but I can’t help but sometimes think of Chapter 3, the return to Ground Zeroes, using Battlegear, Guard Dogs, Mission 51, the 80’s Filter, etc.

Angry Joe touched on it as well, he noticed the lack of story even though it was his first MGS. The plot isn’t all bad, though it’s definitely less dense than previous MGS and in a poor way. The bigger problem is how poorly it’s paced, and especially when the ending comes (I actually like the ending). It just happens out of the blue!

MGO is its own beast. It’s OKAY, I haven’t had netcode problems myself. It doesn’t lack good maps though, what it really needs is game modes (!). Sadly I doubt Konami has plans for those. It’s good but right now it just feels like a regular ‘tacked on’ multiplayer mode. It needs more game modes to really becomes its own beast.

    >Ruse Palace

    WHAT COULD IT MEAN

MGO3 is okay. I can’t compare it to MGO2 sadly since I missed out on it, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Average? Sure, but not bad – it just needs more maps and modes, right now it feels a bit tacked on. Maps based on previous games would be great too.

I like MGO3, but like many people say, it feels like a tacked on Multi-mode. Adding a new unique character and some maps is cool, thanks, but I really wish they’d add gamemodes and other features. MGO3 feels like a beta.

Might be unfinished, but you can blame Konami on that one.

Kojima made an amazing experience, which I still enjoy playing.

I can’t even begin to say how much co-op would have made all the side-ops missions less repetitive.

We’re not gonna get a full bridge between 5 and Metal Gear 1 sadly. For some cuhrayzee reason I always thought this game would end with Big Boss telling you (as Solid now) that your BFF Frank Jaegar got caught and then it ends.

That would’ve been a fantastic end.
