Indie developer Max Parata has released a new trailer and playable demo for Punk Runner, their stylish new cyberpunk flying car racing game.
The new playable demo for Punk Runner is now available over on the game’s itch.io page. A release is set for sometime in 2027 for PC (via Steam and itch.io).
The new demo gives players a first look at the game, which pays homage to Need for Speed Underground 2 and other classics, while incorporating a new level of customization inspired by Japanese car culture.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus the new trailer:
Punk Runner is a flying-car racing game set in a cyberpunk open-world. You cruise the flying city, meet rivals, and jump into spontaneous street races that can start at any moment. You will customize your car, level up, and push your stats to beat stronger enemies. The city is always alive, always pushing you to race someone new.
EXPLORE
You explore a vertical cyberpunk city filled with traffic, reckless drivers, and hidden shortcuts. Races can start anywhere: a driver challenges you and an outrun breaks out. The game mixes pure speed with RPG rules. Your car has levels, stats, and rare parts that define how you drive.
CUSTOMIZE
The garage is your base. You unlock new parts, buy limited-time items, and give your ride a look that stands out. Every upgrade affects how you race. Some rivals hit hard, some outruns require overpowered engines and Some racers might feel unbeatable at first – until you upgrade your ride, raise your stats, and come back stronger.
RACE
Outruns are tense. Rivals will try to push you out of the way and slow you down as you take the lead. A hit can drain your boost, break your speed, or send you off track depending on your build. You earn nitro by dodging impact and driving with style. Winning is about speed, toughness, and staying in control under pressure.
