Sony has confirmed that Playstation 4 firmware version 1.7 is coming, and that it will bring a whole host of enhancements.
The most notable of the enhancements is the ability to toggle HDCP off, so that users can capture gameplay via an HDMI card.
The update will bring the following updates and changes:
- A rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize video clips will be added.
- You’ll be able to export and save videos and screenshots you create via the Share button to a USB drive.
- There is “a lot more coming in this update as well,” Sony promises. “There will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.”
A future system software update is being teased that will bring Twitch and Ustream video archiving, alongside higher resolution (720p) broadcasting. More info on these updates are being promised to come in the “coming weeks.”
