Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that over 6.2 million PlayStation 4 units were sold during last year’s holiday season.
This new milestone includes the time from November 21st to January 1st in Japan/Asia, November 20th to December 31st in the Americas, and finally November 21st to December 31st in Europe.
This brings the console’s total worldwide sales to over 53.4 million units as of January 1st.
“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from our fans and partners, which has helped to make this holiday season one of the best in our history.” Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said in a press release.
“We will aim to continue the momentum this year by broadening the PS4 title portfolio, further enriching the revolutionary gaming experiences on PlayStation VR and high quality gaming experience on PlayStation4 Pro, while also expanding network services. We will remain steadfast in making the PS4 the best place to play.”
Sony also made a note with PlayStation 4 software pushing over 50.4 million copies during the 2016 holiday season, both at retail and digital downloads.
