Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced PlayStation Now users can now play PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 4 games offline.
This means the lineup of games available on their service can be fully downloaded and played locally on your console, kind of the same way you would if you purchased the game regularly from the PlayStation Store. You could also stream them like you always have been able to, if you want.
It’s worth pointing out that almost all the games in their service are now able to utilize this feature – naturally the company will be working to get everything working offline via the service. However, as with these types of services, you’ll need to connect your PlayStation 4 to the Internet every few days to verify your PlayStation Now subscription.
If you were streaming a game previously and want to make use of this feature with existing save data, you can transfer your save file from the PlayStation Now cloud to your console, with a PlayStation Plus membership (PlayStation Now itself doesn’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription).
