Sony Computer Entertainment America has confirmed that the new slim model of the Playstation Vita is coming to North America this Spring. The console will retail for $199.99 and will come with a free copy of Borderlands 2, six packs of downloadable content for the title, and an eight gigabyte memory card.

The slimmer PS Vita model is 20% percent thinner and 15% percent lighter than the original Playstation Vita, and it uses an LCD display instead of the OLED display that so many fans praised. It first launched in Japan late last year, and it released in the United Kingdom last Friday.

Borderlands 2 will come with cross-save functionality with the Playstation 3 original, and the Vita version comes with the following downloadable content packs:

  • Captain Scarlett
  • Her Pirate’s Booty
  • Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
  • Psycho Character Class
  • Mechromancer Character Class
  • Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1
  • Collector’s Edition Pack

Sony also confirmed the release dates for a few Vita titles that have gone missing, namely The God of War Collection, which includes the first two God of War games, which is launching on May 6th. The Sly Cooper Collection, which includes the first three Sly Cooper games, is coming on May 27th.

Invizimals and Murasaki Baby are also being considered for release in the Americas, and finally No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either! is actually coming as well, although it was given a generic Spring release.
