Project Sakura Wars Launches December 12 in Japan, New Gameplay and Details

Sega’s monthly livestream has revealed the Japanese release date for Project Sakura Wars, alongside new gameplay and details.

Project Sakura Wars is launching December 12th for PlayStation 4 in Japan. A western release is set for sometime in spring 2020 for North America and Europe.

A snippet of that segment can be found above. Curiously, the game seems more action orientated than the past turn-based games.

We have also learned a little more of the story. Revues from around the world are meeting for an international competition dubbed the World Revue War. The two characters at the 0:35 mark are from the Shanghai Revue- Yang Shaolong and Huang Yui.

Shaolong acts as the Shanghai Revue’s captain.  Hot-blooded but extremely optimistic, he does not even feel any malice from sarcasm and insults. He speaks his mind and is not afraid to hold back. He has a similar attitude in battle, with “extremely” high attack power thanks to his martial arts. He is also known as an excellent chef, with fried rice so delicious he has been called the Flame Rice User.

Yui is an energetic and determined acrobat, with the best agility in the Shanghai Revue. Her love of revues is so deep, her usual cheerful attitude becomes much stricter against the “spiritless” Imperial Combat Revue. Since Sakura Amamiya seems to be doing her best, Yui has more appreciation for her, and tries to be friendly to her as she is her senior in the Revues.
