Princess Maker 2 Regeneration will be censored on PlayStation, PC and Switch unaffected

Princess Maker Regeneration

The upcoming remaster Princess Maker 2 Regeneration will be censored on PlayStation according to the game’s publisher Bliss Brain.

The game is a remaster of the 1993 title Princess Maker 2 developed and published by Gainax (Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, and more). The game was already remastered once in 2004 with Princess Maker 2 Refine on PlayStation 2, and the upcoming Regeneration is based on this release.

However unsatisfied, Sony has dictated additional changes for the game to be released on their platform. You can read the full list on the game’s official site and below.

NOTICE

The PS4 and PS5 versions of Princess Maker 2 Regeneration will undergo some specification changes in order to comply with ethical standards. These changes include:
  • The removal of items that increase the daughter’s bust size
  • The removal of the endings “Marriage with Father” and “Marriage with Butler”

Due to these changes, the release date for the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game has been moved to August 8, 2024. Bliss Brain apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

Sony is becoming well-known for their draconian censorship policies in recent years, allowing Nintendo to fill the niche of mostly uncensored Japanese games.

The new game will have updated illustrations with higher resolution and smoother details and will remain intact on Nintendo Switch and PC when it released on July 10, 2024. People who really want the censored version will have to wait until August 8 for PlayStation.
