Predator, Colonel Al Dillon Reportedly Coming to Mortal Kombat X as DLC in June

colonel al dillon 02-20-15-1

First we heard of the possibility that Todd McFarlane’s Spawn might be coming to Mortal Kombat X, but now we’ve heard (via a source from VideoGamer.com) that Predator might be a post-launch DLC character in the game.

Things get very interesting, however, as the report also mentions that Predator is coming alongside Colonel Al Dillon from the original movie, who was originally played by the actor Carl Weathers. Best news? Weathers has reportedly given the OK for NetherRealm to use his likeness in the game.

Finally, to add more fuel to the rumor fire, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has also been tweeting Predator themed fan art and suggestions for the past few days.

Mortal Kombat X will have a worldwide launch on April 14, across PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

Do Predator and Al Dillon make sense for Mortal Kombat X?

This reminds me of Soul Calibur with the Yoda, Darth Vader and Link cameos….

The Predator I can deal with, but the Colonel? Like, why?

Eh … I’m on board with Spawn, but this doesn’t even make sense.

It makes about as much sense as Freddy. Which is to say none but, hey, Predator’s sweet.

Both Freddy and Spawn come from hell/other dimensions. The predator is just an alien that doesn’t even have any thematic resonance with the series. I’m not feeling it.

Eh, I’ve long since given up expecting logic from fighting game cameo characters. I’m just excited for Predator fatalities.

Why? Shouldn’t schwarzenegger be the guy, he was the only survivor in the original.

However a predator is an apex fighter, and physically stronger than most humans and likely most of the kombatants in the game. On top of that, predators are known for their gruesome weapons, so at least one of his fatalities would involve trophy decapitation. What it lacks in magic it would make up for in technology/weapons. Not every character is magic based after-all, look at Jax or Sonya, or the cyber ninjas.

If they get Arnold as Dutch, that better be their intro if they face off.

While we’re at it, let’s add Rambo and the Terminator in as well.

I meant more that if you squint just right, Krueger and Spawn both fit into the Mortal Kombat universe because of their backgrounds. The predator doesn’t, really, apart from sharing some resemblance with a few of the fighters.

Think of it like this: Predator hunts the strongest creatures it can find, be it acid-blooded bugs, or Arnold in his prime. So some inter-dimensional shenanigans involving large four armed fire-breathing creatures amongst other nasty beings, would be a huge attraction for a predator. Granted I get what you’re saying, outside of Outworld and other realms they haven’t really touched on alien life in Mortal Kombat, but it could be interesting. I’d be interested to see if a predator would play like a combination of Stryker/Cyrax/Baraka. Especially when you see how much inspiration the cyber-ninjas took from Predator design.
