Port Royale 4 30 Minute Exploration Video, Beta Development Roadmap, and New Screenshots

Port Royale 4

Kalypso Media have released a 30 minute Exploration Video set in Port Royale 4, along with a beta development roadmap, and new screenshots.

As stated in the press release (via email), the game’s world measures 12 million squared kilometers, reaching from the Florida Keys to the northern tip of South America. Players can explore the world and commandeer settlements, all to the sound of an orchestral soundtrack.

The 30 minute video shows a ship travelling from one side of the map to the other. “With real life travel off the cards for the foreseeable future,” as the press release explains, “Port Royale 4’s ‘Explorer video’ is the perfect substitute. […] The tone of the video is meditative, encouraging viewers to sit back, relax and lose themselves to the game’s pristine Caribbean scenery and original orchestral score.”

You can find the Exploration Video trailer below.

In addition, the press release shared a beta development road map, along with new screenshots. You can find them below.

You can find the full rundown (via Steam) below.

Set sail and join the colonial powers of SpainEnglandFrance and the Netherlands in their fight for supremacy of the Caribbean in the 17th century.
In ‘Port Royale 4’ you will take control of a colony as a young and ambitious governor who is eager to learn what it takes to manage and grow his small settlement into a bustling trader city.

Develop production chains connecting multiple islands and create complex trade routes across the Caribbean, covering the ever-growing needs of the respective cities. Make use of the detailed sea map to avoid stormy weather regions, cliffs or shallow waters. Fulfill tasks for your nation’s viceroy, earning more fame to unlock town buildings, ships and more. Conquer the cities of rival nations or hunt down their fleets with a letter of marque while also keeping a keen eye out for pirates and other privateers.

For the first time in the series, naval battles will be turn-based, with up to 8 ships battling at one time and tactical captain maneuvers that can turn the tide in even the most hopeless of situations for a glorious victory.

Port Royale 4 launches September 25th on Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In case you missed it, you can find our hands-on preview with the beta here.
