Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket

The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is adding a new “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion this month.

The new “Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion is launching for the digital trading card and battling game next week, on July 29th/30th pending your local time. A new update is launching the same day adding changes to the game’s trade feature.

Here’s a blurb on the new expansion and new features, plus a trailer:

New Wisdom of Sea and Sky Expansion

In Wisdom of Sea and Sky, players can encounter beloved Pokémon first discovered in the Johto region, as seen in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games, such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, as well as the Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh. In this expansion, Pokémon with attacks that don’t require Energy will also debut, allowing Trainers to test new strategies for deck building and battling.

A new trailer is available on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, offering a sneak peek at the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion.

Updates to Trade Feature

Pokémon TCG Pocket players can also look forward to the following updates to the trade feature, beginning July 29, 2025, at 11 p.m. PDT:

  • Wishlist Feature: Players will soon be able to share which cards they would like to trade for when trading with others. They can navigate to their wishlist from the My Cards screen, where they’ll be able to add up to 20 cards, as well as highlight three cards from their wishlist to display on their profile.
  • Revisions to Trade Feature: Trade tokens will be discontinued, and players will no longer need to exchange cards to obtain the currency required for trading. However, shinedust will be required to trade cards of ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦ and ★ rarities. Players can acquire shinedust by completing in-game missions and achievements or by obtaining duplicates of cards they already own. Players can exchange trade tokens they own for pack hourglasses and shinedust in the in-game shop.[1] Players will be unable to trade cards in their possession for trade tokens beginning July 29, at 6 p.m. PDT, following completion of the in-game update.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is now available for smartphones on both iOS (via the App Store) and Android (via the Google Play Store).
