The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is adding a new “Mega Rising” expansion this month.

The new “Mega Rising” expansion is launching for the digital trading card and battling game next week, on October 30th, pending your local time. A free update is launching at the same time.

Alongside details on the update is news the game has topped 150 million downloads since its global release in October 2024.

Here’s a rundown on the new content, plus a trailer:

Mega Rising marks the debut of a new series in Pokémon TCG Pocket and the introduction of Mega-Evolved Pokémon to the app. Players will be able to expand their card collection and discover the might of Mega Evolution Pokémon ex by opening three booster packs: Mega Rising: Mega Gyarados, Mega Rising: Mega Blaziken, and Mega Rising: Mega Altaria.

In addition, a free update will be released on Oct. 30, introducing:

• New Share Feature: Players can give and receive one ♦–♦♦♦♦ rarity card to friends per day, including cards from the latest expansion.
• Expanded Range of Tradable Cards: Players will soon be able to trade cards from the latest expansions and booster packs. In addition to ♦–♦♦♦♦ and ★ rarity cards, ★★ and Shiny 1–Shiny 2 rarity cards will be eligible for trading.
• Improved Wonder Pick Feature: Unobtained cards from the latest expansion will appear more often in the wonder pick feature. In addition, the number of cards players currently own will be displayed on each card in Wonder Pick.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is now available for smartphones on both iOS (via the App Store) and Android (via the Google Play Store).
