Pokemon TCG Online is Shutting Down for Pokemon TCG Live

Pokemon TCG Online is Shutting Down

This week’s reveal that a new Pokemon Trading Card Game Live game is coming soon had fans question what that meant for the previous game – we now know that Pokemon TCG Online is shutting down to make way for the new game.

The details that came alongside the new game reveal confirm that Pokemon TCG Online is shutting down, “shortly” before the launch of Pokemon Trading Card Game Live, which is also coming shortly before the end of this year.

While the previous game used Pokemon Trainer Club accounts, the new game will as well – this is intentional so that players can migrate their old game data over to the new game and client. When you log into the new game for the first time you’ll be able to transfer your account and its data.

Furthermore, things that won’t migrate include: unopened packs and items, currency, avatar items, friend lists, and decks you’ve made. Crystals, the new game’s currency, will be given out in an equivalent of the value of things not migrating from the first game.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Live is coming first to iOS and Android as a free to play game worldwide via a soft launch later in 2021, with a global open beta coming to PC and Mac as well. The game will support English, Italian, French, Spanish, German, and Brazilian Portuguese.
