Pokemon Sword and Shield Japanese Launch Event Cancelled Due to “Operational Reasons”

The Pokemon Company have announced the launch event for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield in Japan has been canceled.

Originally slated to take place on November 15th at the Mega Tokyo Pokemon Center. The reason for the cancellation was cited as “operational reasons”. The game’s lead producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori were also supposed to appear.

While the reason may be mundane (from overcrowding to technical issues), it has not stopped speculation if poor reception to some Pokemon being cut from the game from some fans may have caused the cancellation. Even to today, the “Dexit” and “Bring Back National Dex” hashtags have had activity on Twitter.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are both launching on November 15th, for Nintendo Switch.
