Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon Officially Announced for 3DS

Following yesterday’s leak for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Nintendo has officially announced both titles for the Nintendo 3DS.

Featured above, you can view the reveal trailer for the two latest entries in the series.

The game’s will be released worldwide later this year, with a tentative “holiday” release window. The games will feature a multitude of language options, including: English, Italian, Spanish, Korean, French, German, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

Finally, Nintendo also confirmed that the digital re-releases of Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow, will all support Pokemon Bank, which means you can transfer the Pokemon captured in those games into Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon (Editor’s note: all three games launch tomorrow).

Sadly Nintendo doesn’t need to show anything. All they need to say is “NEW POKEMON” and boom! You can hear the pre-orders already starting to pile up.

    Pokemon=plastic money for Nintendo.

I was very pissed off at the crap factor that was XY and ORAS so I’m gonna be veeery careful with this.

They didn’t even show what console it’s on. I think it should be a New 3DS thing to fix that fuckawful lag the other Gen 6 games had.

I don’t know what anyone was expecting.
SPOILERS: It’ll be the same inadequate engine from X/Y/OR/AS, the same watered down dialogue, the same predictable plotline about countering an evil organization, and the same weird-ass morality lecture about how it’s somehow ok to capture intelligent creatures and force them to fight for your amusement. Except almost certainly with some sort of paid DLC features this go-around.

Even if it’s LEAGUES better than the last Ge, even if it’s the best Pokemon games for young and old, I ain’t touching it until Pokemon Re-orchestrated is restored to Youtube.

Yes Nintendo gave him a license to sell his work, and odds are that its Youtube’s copyright system being abused by a third party, but until then it’s The Pokemon Company’s responsibility. Not to mention the non-profit fan games that have been DMCA’d. They don’t treat fans with respect.

That was the worst of directs.
The first part was ok but then they had to cut to some long and tedious 90’s tier montage of random happy kids.
    And no video.
    No nothing.
We saw the logos already come on at least show the protagonists of the games or something.

There’s no need. It’s Pokemon. What are you expecting it to look like? It’s gonna be the exact same thing they’ve done for decades. And you’re gonna buy it like the good goy you are.

How so? Will this game allow the players to travel the lands from the previous games? Will we have to beat all the gyms from all over the land, will we have to beat EVERY SINGLE ELITE 4?! Or is it just another pokemon game?

I can’t get any sort of excitement from this.

They didn’t even show goddamn gameplay! I mean, yeah, it’s pokemon. The game’s barely changed in twenty years, sure, but still show some gameplay. Hopefully it’ll be more enjoyable than GenVI was.

  33. Zombie_Barioth
    February 26, 2016 at 7:29 pm

What I wanna know is how they’re managing to get the gen I Pokemon to work with the new games, and what makes them different from X&Y and ORAS.

The older Pokemon are flat-out missing certain values and stats (personality value, lower IV and EV count) so they aren’t even compatible with the current engine or mechanics.

So did they figure out a way to fill in the gaps, or does Sun and Moon use a completely new engine? At any rate I’m kind of tempted to get one of the VC games now.

  34. scemar
    February 26, 2016 at 8:09 pm

In this context it’s like an easy and cheap unearned sale.
Effectively goy= the consumer that easily gives up his will power and standards, loses his normal composure and judgement, finally to end giving Nintendo money on day 1 for yet another low effort, low quality pokemon game that rehashes practically everything despite not being happy about it.

  35. InfectedAI
    February 26, 2016 at 9:48 pm

I’m still so disappointed in their game engine. You think a flagship title like Pokemon would’ve supported 3D on the 3DS. I was so looking forward to exploring Pokemon’s world in 3D.

  36. InfectedAI
    February 26, 2016 at 9:49 pm

Doesn’t have to be exclusive. They can just have it take advantage of the slightly better hardware when run on the 3DS. Monster Hunter 4U did that. I don’t know of any others.

  37. InfectedAI
    February 26, 2016 at 9:51 pm

I assume the missing stats will be generated when imported into the new games. Also I heard they’re charging a fair chunk for the VC games.

I also don’t want them to reuse the same 3D models is the thing.
People seem to disagree but I thought they were ass ugly. Even the Stadium models had art direction going for them despite the lower polygon count

Which had removed content like the game corner and the game was somehow being even easier than the original release.

Sad thing is, the people who make those kinda complaints still end up buying it.

  52. Zombie_Barioth
    February 27, 2016 at 7:43 pm

Well yeah, what I meant though is how exactly. How do they plan to assign stats to Pokemon that never had them?

My guess would to be to update the transfer tool to double IVs for the Pokemon, the tricky part however would the personality value. The only way I can see for that is faking the transfer by deleting the original and generating a rough equivalent.

That said, Yeah, the VC games are $10. I guess that’s the ‘tax’ for the updated features.

    Where’s the game corner?
    Where’s trainer customize in ORAS?
    Why was the challenged lowered?
Why were all the routs in XY straight paths?
WHERE the fuck is any semblance of a post game?
    They even took away seasons

What kind of shitty ass remake has less content than the originals? ORAS

This year is looking to be great for us! We got Pokemon GO, an updated RBY, and Sun and Moon. The former titles we know a lot about already. But the real mystery is with Sun and Moon. The names are cool, but I want more details! I loved how X and Y were really hyped and how they were a big jump from their predecessors. I’m hoping Sun and Moon bring something new to the franchise as well.
