Nintendo and developer Niantic’s wildly popular Pokemon Go has had its technical problems since launch, and some of them have remained unsolved.

The most annoying of grievances with the game for most users is the “three step” glitch, which would show all nearby Pokemon with the same number of steps (featured above). This makes it that much harder to track down nearby Pokemon, as the two and one steps never appear.

To solve this, Niantic has removed the footprints feature entirely, with no mention as to whether or not fans can expect them back again. There are some welcome improvements to the game, like improved memory usage, the ability to re-customize your avatar (as well as some new outfit options), and more.

• Removed footprints of nearby Pokémon

• New warning about playing in dangerous areas
• Battery saver mode removed from iOS version

The more confusing move by Niantic has been the effective shutting down of third party websites and applications like Pokevision, Poke Radar, and more – by cutting off whatever information said third parties were scraping from the Pokemon Go servers.

Now, with no way of reliably tracking down Pokemon both in the app and outside it with third parties, it will be interesting to see how Niantic approaches tracking Pokemon, considering they have consistently had server issues.
