Pokemon GO has announced their latest upcoming event “Twinkling Fantasy” which will heavily feature Dragon and Fairy type Pokemon.
This whimsical week will be the Pokemon GO debut of Mega Salamence as an available Mega Evolution, and include a rare Legendary Pokemon knowing an event exclusive move!
Here’s everything you need to know when the event begins on January 10 and runs through January 16.

Pokemon GO Twinkling Fantasy Event
Event Bonuses
Throughout the course of Twinkling Fantasy these passive bonuses will help get players ahead.
- 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
Pokemon Encounters and Shiny Dedenne!
Some Pokemon will have an increased appearance rate throughout the course of Twinkling Fantasy; and this event is also the debut of shiny Dedenne!

Players can also have surprise encounters with Dragon and Fairy type Pokemon when taking snapshots!
Collection Challenge and Research Tasks
Twinkling Fantasy will feature a new Collection Challenge for ambitious trainers who want to do everything during the event and thematic research tasks will give players an increased chance at finding event Pokemon such as:

- Dratini
- Dedenne
- Clefairy
- Goomy
Pokemon Raids, Event Exclusive Zekrom, and the Debut of Mega Salamence!
This event will feature a slew of thematically appropriate raids for Twinkling Fantasy. The big standouts here are the debut of Mega Salamence, and a Zekrom knowing the Charge Move Fusion Bolt! Zekrom is the perfect Pokemon to go alongside Reshiram who just recently had an event where he could be caught knowing Fusion Flare.
