Pokemon Go Announced for Mobile, “Allows Players to Catch ’em All in the Real World”

The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Go for both iOS and Android.

The new game is coming sometime next year, and it’s developed to bring the Pokemon universe to our world. Featured above, you can view the first teaser trailer for the game.

Pokemon Go has been in development for the past two years within Ingress developer Niantic Labs, a former startup at Google. The game is being developed in collaboration with both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. Series creator Junichi Masuda is returning to design the game’s music and overall design.

Pokemon Go will use real-world information to enable players to catch, trade, and battle their own Pokemon, while also exploring the real world. Examples like finding a Pikachu hiding near the Eiffel Tower, or a Bulbasaur waiting at Shinjuku Station, were given.

Finally, Nintendo’s part of the deal comes with the “Pokemon Go Plus” device, which you can pin to your clothes or strap onto your wrist. This is sort of like one of those wearable fitness bands, in that it gives you notifications in the form of LED flashes, or vibration. You can also do certain in-game actions, like throwing a Pokeball, by pressing down on the LED.
