PlayStation have announced the return of Play At Home; with a free copy of Ratchet & Clank (2016) and a three month trial of Funimation.
The scheme originally began in April 2020, offering free games to incentivize and entertain people at home due to the quarantine orders brought about by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Sony Interactive Entertainment also set aside $10 million USD to help support independent development partners.
Now PlayStation Blog have announced the return of the scheme, starting March 1st and continuing for four months. Match 1st will see Ratchet & Clank (2016) as a free download on the PlayStation Store for a limited time; and free to keep.
From March 25th, Funimation (a subsidiary of Sony) are offering “extended access” for new subscribers to the Funimation anime streaming service, or Wakanim where available. In an interview with GQ, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan stated this would be a three month trial.
The interview also confirmed Gran Turismo 7 has been delayed, the announcement of the PlayStation 5 VR system, and that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Uncharted movie and Last of Us TV series have not been delayed.
Ratchet & Clank (2016) is a remake of the first game, combining elements of that with the CGI 2016 movie. Clank is a defective warbot who learns of Chairman Drek’s plans to destroy planets to create a new one for his species. Fleeing to a lone planet, he meets Ratchet; and the pair set off to warn and save the galaxy.
Players acquire weird and wonderful sci-fi weapons to blast at foes, and gadgets to solve puzzles and navigate levels. Upgrade your arsenal, grab as many Bolts as you can get, and do it all over again in Challenge Mode.
