Playstation Now is Entering Open Beta on PS4 Today

Sony has confirmed that Playstation Now, their video game streaming service, is going to enter open beta today in North America.

Featured above, you can view a walkthrough video of sorts that gives a pretty thorough rundown of what to expect with the service. The open beta is launching with over a hundred titles to rent, and more will come in time.

There will be varying lengths of time to rent the titles, ranging from 7-days, 30-days, or 90-days, to even a short 4-hour trial. Trophies, friends lists, leaderboards, cloud game saves and so on are all supported in Playstation Now.

Naturally, if a game has downloadable content, you’ll be able to access that in Playstation Now as well.

If you’re still holding out hope for a subscription type model (like Playstation Plus), PlayStation Now senior director Jack Buser has this to say:

In addition, we’ve heard you loud and clear for an update on a PS Now subscription option and want to reassure you that we are working on it. We think PS Now represents the next step toward the future of gaming and we’re excited to have the PlayStation Nation come along with us on the beginning of this journey.

Are you guys excited to get a chance to try out Playstation Now?

    It won’t work everywhere

The success of PS NOW depends too much on internet infrastucture. Half of Europe has too poor conection to make it work…. but I bet gamescom will be all about it :/

4hour rent = say goodbye to free demoes

Agreed the way there currently going on about it will fail if they don’t make changes.

P.S. Don’t forget to comment in the Disqus forums:

But the thing is … they can’t do anything about it.

It is not something SCEE or SCEA can do anything about, everything depends on private internet providers. And they won’t improve quality of their service just because SONY is going to launch some supa-dupa-PsNOW.

PS NOW will be working in USA, Canada, Japan, UK.. maybe France and Germany… and that’s it.

But everyone will e forced to see results of PS NOW… and no demoes is just one of them.

About comment… but… but… I don’t have any idea what to write :( Really… I have carte blanche in my mind :P Too tired to think about anything… I can comment just fine… but thinking out new topic… man no… my auto-pilot mode doesn’t have that option.

True but you could always reply to an existing comment if you dont want to start a new one. At the very least please take the survey link that bf313 provided, hopefully Sekai Project gets a positive response from it and we can finally see Clannad localised in the west and on VITA.

    Might as well do this…

Hmm… I know that I wanted some VN to be translated some time ago… can’t remember what I wanted… hmm… Toradora VN would be fine for me… but there was also something… huh…I can;t seem to remember… huh…

Lol, like I stated the survey is specifically for “KEY” visual novel games like Clannad, Kannon, and AIR. However If you want to throw another name be my guest, although Id probably pick one thats already been ported to the VITA to better our chances.

    Oh ok…

But still… I can’t remember what I wanted… do you remember what I might wanted? (kidding -but not kidding about not remembering)

EDIT: oh and Toradora was on PSP :P

True about the Demos. They successfully trained us PC gamers to not expect them and instead pay for them, now they want to do it on consoles.

But sadly there is type of people who will defend everything SONY is doing, attacking others like mad dogs.

So you can’t really say that you don’t want PS NOW…so yeah we are observing end of the demoes and we can’t do a thing about it.
