Playstation 4 Update 2.0 is Crashing Systems Put in Rest Mode and Causing Youtube App Bugs

playstation 4 11-02-14-1

While Update 2.0 has brought a ton of new features to Sony’s PlayStation 4, it seems like it also brought with it some issues.

The most notable of unwanted features in the new update is the system’s Rest Mode causing the entire system to crash, for no apparent reason. The reports of the consoles not being able to exit Rest Mode have been reported all over both the Sony forums and the PS4 subreddit. To be clear, if you simply power the system down entirely, you’ll avoid this entire debacle.

The end users have mostly claimed the same thing—after updating to version 2.0 and putting the console into Rest Mode, they experienced a hardware crash and weren’t able to resume the regular system functionality. Sony has advised users who are plagued with this error to just reboot their consoles with Safe Mode, but a fix is presumably incoming in a new update.

Lastly, other users are reporting a bug with the native YouTube app, where the app itself stops functioning after a video is queued for upload.

We’ll keep you guys posted.

Playstation 4 has a “Safe Mode”? That’s something consoles should never need to have.

    I miss the PS2.

Happened to me, reinstalled the firmware like the article mentioned and the problem stopped well with rest mode.

Good thing I didn’t have my PS4 hooked up when this update dropped. I’ll happily wait till they sort themselves out.

Come guys, without all these bugs SCE couldn’t shove ten of those “stability” updates that we love so much down our throats to straighten things out.

I have been told that, you only will encounter the Rest Mode bug if, you in Power setting on your PS4 enable Always stay connect to the Internet and send a item to download.

The cause for the YouTube issue is due to lack of premesion, so the solution is as to revoke PSN access to YouTube and then re-authenticate.
Basically just do as the picture below say.

We need piracy on the PS4 so they can stop adding stability-breaking new features and spend their time trying to catch the proverbial mouse instead (while leaving the rest alone).

I too am getting stuck in rest mode.
what a bungle, I usually charge my controller while in rest mode.

The power issue only happens to me when I have a disc in the disc tray.

If I take it out, I can enter rest mode and turn back on just fine.
