Playism has announced the Playism Game Show 2022 is coming this weekend in Japan, where the publisher will show off their latest games.
The Playism Game Show 2022 is premiering on January 23rd at 4PM Japan time and will be streamed via YouTube (both English, Japanese), Niconico, and Bilibili. The broadcast will include a game stream by livestreamers towaco and NAMARIKIRIN.
The new broadcast is the first official event from Playism since they postponed their TGS 2021 livestream to an undetermined date, after the fiasco where they removed Kson from their Tokyo Game Show livestream.
To recap: Kson was announced alongside several other popular figures to host the Playism Tokyo Game Show 2021 livestream, only to have her promptly removed without a proper explanation.
Fans speculated this is likely due to angry Chinese imperialist users on Chinese site Bilibili, who were outraged Kson was included. Playism initially blamed the confusion on a lack of planning and confirming details with all involved parties, regarding the invited guests.
The outrage from Chinese users is due to an ongoing rumor (highly speculated, not official) that Kson used to portray the anime vtuber Kiryu Coco, who got into trouble for mentioning Taiwan when reporting on their own metrics on a livestream. Despite this not being confirmed by Kson herself, the outrage alone was enough to have her removed from the event.
We’ll report on the event as games are revealed and shown off.
