Previously, we got word that Obsidian Entertainment’s incredibly ambitious kickstarter funded CRPG was delayed, and that it lacked a solid release window. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Obsidian to come around and update their naturally confused and worried fans and backers.
The game is now set for a release sometime in the coming Winter of this year, although we haven’t gotten much more clarification beyond that statement made on the game’s kickstarter blog. The update came from the game’s producer, Rose Gomez, who had this to say regarding the current status of the game, and its new release window:
“We wanted to officially update everyone that we are looking good to release Eternity by Winter 2014. So, look forward to getting your hands on Pillars of Eternity later this year.”
Unfortunately, for those fans who were hoping the game would get additional stretch goals, Gomez revealed that they decided against that notion:
“After much discussion and consideration of the poll on our forums we have decided not to pursue any additional stretch goals. Rest assured that the team is working hard on completing the game and including our current stretch goals.”
So while the game won’t be getting more content beyond the already massive amount of planned content, it’s at least on track for a release sometime soon. It’s going to be a long wait, but we’ll keep you guys posted.
