Pier Solar HD Delayed Until June

For Genesis era JRPG’ers like myself, Watermelon’s gorgeously detailed throwback game was a dream come true. Granted, you needed a Paypal account and a working Sega Genesis to play it, but early reports were that it was more than worth it.

Thankfully, after a successful Kickstarter campaign, the developers were able to not only do an enhanced “HD” port of it for modern machines and the PC, but also PS4 and somewhat amusingly, the Dreamcast as well.

And then, we heard nothing. Other than the delay to April announcement, news on the Pier Solar front has been sparse … that is until today, when a backers-only update on their Kickstarter page revealed that the game was being pushed back until June.

Granted, not a big deal since it’ll be here before we all know it, but having the date revealed certainly makes the anxiety of waiting a bit harder to contain.

Word is that Watermelon hopes to get the game out before E3 on June 10th, but it’s just speculation. Having earned a couple hundred thousand on Kickstarter and successfully managing a Steam Greenlight campaign, Watermelon is certainly in no rush to release a half-finished product.

Either way, expect Pier Solar to invade just about every single gaming platform (eventually even mobile phones) known to man this summer.
